By nature I do not like surprises. I want to know what's going on when, where, how, and make sure it happens just the way it should. In other words I have to have control. This is something that God has been working on since I got saved. This need for control was truly tested on Friday May 6, 2011. 15 minutes before the last service of the Tempe conference was to start our pastor pulled Kevin aside. Asked him a couple questions, which took a total of 5 minutes. And 10 minutes before service informed Kevin that he and I would be the next Tempe Door Directors! All the while I was still oblivious!
While Kevin was speaking with Pastor Aulson I was downstairs in Children's Church preparing for our black light puppet show. I thankfully was able to go upstairs after the show because my uncle was preaching... a night off from Children's Church during conference is coveted! ;) Entering the main church building there was my mom and twin sisters! As we sat down Kevin whispered in my ear, "no expression, but we're the next door directors". I wanted to scream WHAT?!? OMGOSH!!! My stomach was immediately in knots and my head spinning with all the reasons we were not ready. Then the words of my wise father-in-law came to me from a discussion earlier that week. Words that brought me to the realization that pastor would not have chosen us without first seeking God's will. At least something to that affect. Ultimately God obviously place us upon Pastor's heart saying that we are ready and who are we to refute God's belief in us!
So here we go! A new adventure! I'm sooooo nervous, but God has really shown Himself real to us everyday since then! I have an amazing man standing at my side and my Heavenly Father guiding us! I can't wait to see what God does through us this year!
